Chapter 187: Very Direct, Very Passionate!

“Time… yes, I have time.” Wu Chen smiled.

In the three hours they had spent at the restaurant, the two of them had gone through another three bottles of red wine.

Wu Yurong was genuinely drunk. Even the hangover medicine was useless now.

Wu Chen was fine. There was barely a trace of it in his face.

“What kind of tea do you like, Mr. Wu?” she asked.

Her foot was still hooked around his leg beneath the table, while above the tabletop she behaved as though nothing at all were happening, as though she really were only inviting him over for tea.

Wu Chen kept his right hand on the stem of his glass. His left dropped naturally, caught Wu Yurong’s small bare foot beneath the table, then stroked lightly up along her calf.

“Any tea is fine…” He smiled at her. “New tea is fragrant. Aged tea… is mellower. Worth lingering over.”

“Shall we go?” Wu Yurong asked.

    “Let’s go,” Wu Chen said.

    Dinner was over.

Soon enough they were downstairs and in the car.

“South City,” Wu Yurong said to the driver from the left side of the back seat.

She owned a great many properties in Donghai, but lived regularly in only two: a high-end apartment and a villa.

    South City meant the villa.

    The Bentley Mulsanne pulled away.

In the front passenger seat, Chu Yan kept glancing sideways and checking the rearview mirror.

It had been a long time since she had seen her boss drink this much.

    What was going on today?

Chu Yan could make no sense of it.

She knew her boss had ordered Wu Chen “brought in” because he had deliberately approached the young miss.

But after the two of them had talked alone for more than two hours, Wu Yurong’s attitude toward him had turned very strange.

And after that conversation she had invited him to dinner?

That much was not impossible to follow. Perhaps some misunderstanding had been cleared up. Dinner was normal enough.

But what did taking him home mean?

That was what Chu Yan could not understand at all.

She knew Wu Yurong never brought a man home as a guest late at night.

Even so, Chu Yan’s thoughts did not run that way.

She knew what kind of woman Wu Yurong was—guarded to an extreme, fiercely proper in her private life.

Chu Yan watched her condition closely.

That was part of the job.

Wu Yurong had drunk too much. In this state she might do something she would regret once she sobered.

In unusual circumstances like these, Chu Yan sometimes had to act against Wu Yurong’s own wishes in order to protect her.

As for the boss bringing Wu Chen home, strange as it was, Chu Yan still found an explanation for it.

Perhaps they simply had business unfinished. They would go back, drink tea, and keep talking. Wu Chen was only a young man of a younger generation. Even if he stayed the night it was hardly a problem; the villa had rooms to spare.

While Chu Yan kept checking on her, Wu Chen and Wu Yurong went on talking in the back seat.

“Mr. Wu, tell me… do you think you and Miss Li will marry someday?” Wu Yurong rested her head against the headrest, turned toward him, and smiled.

    “We will.” Wu Chen smiled.

“So certain?” Surprise touched her smile. “But I heard Miss Li doesn’t believe in marriage.”

“People change.” Wu Chen glanced at her, smiling.

“Then Su—” She nearly said Su Qingying’s name and caught herself.

She was drunk, but she had not lost the ability to think. She could still judge what the bodyguards might hear and what they must not.

“I truly don’t know…” Wu Yurong paused, then went on with a drunken smile. “How you’re ever going to resolve all this, Mr. Wu. Whatever you do, someone is going to be hurt.”

“No one will.” His tone was casual. The answer was absolute.

Wu Yurong turned her head and looked at him without speaking, her face flushed with wine, the smile never leaving it.

    A long moment passed.

“What is it?” Wu Chen looked at her and asked.

    “Nothing,” she said softly.

And in the same breath she twisted toward him, hooked an arm around his neck, and leaned in—stopping abruptly with her face less than half an inch from his.

    Their eyes met.

    Only a pause.

Then she kissed him on the mouth.

The Bentley Mulsanne, running perfectly smooth until then, suddenly swerved.

The driver had lost her grip on the wheel for an instant.

    She had been startled.

So had Chu Yan in the front passenger seat. Both women froze.

“Watch the road,” Chu Yan still remembered to murmur to the driver.

But her own eyes were wide on the rearview mirror.

    She was utterly stunned.

She had been with Wu Yurong for years. As her personal bodyguard, nobody understood her boss’s conduct and habits over those years better than she did.

    Her boss…

Her boss was actually kissing this man, in the car?!

The boss really had drunk too much!

She—she might have been deliberately gotten drunk!

Chu Yan had never imagined that anything like a man plying her boss with drink and taking advantage of her could ever happen to Wu Yurong.

Had she been seduced by some pretty boy?

Chu Yan’s read on Wu Chen turned hostile at once, even though Wu Yurong had been the one to start the kiss.

She was looking at it as a protector.

There was no other way she could explain it.

What in the world was going on?!

    The boss was drunk.

Would she regret this once she sobered up?

Chu Yan thought it, and said nothing.

It was not yet the moment to intervene against regret.

Once they reached the villa, if the boss was no longer thinking clearly, Chu Yan would see that everything was handled properly.

Wu Yurong and Wu Chen kissed for more than ten seconds before she drew back.

Then she settled into her seat as though nothing had happened, breathing deep, and let out a long breath.

In truth she had simply wanted to try it.

She knew what would happen once they reached the villa.

So she wanted to test herself first.

Could she really take that step with this man?

Could her heart truly accept it?

    Now she knew.

    She could.

    And not only could she…

She seemed to be looking forward to it more than before.

    Half an hour later.

South City District, Lüyuan Waterside Villas.

The Bentley Mulsanne drove straight into the complex. Instead of turning down into the garage it went on deeper inside and finally stopped in front of Villa No. 6.

    They got out.

Chu Yan jogged to Wu Yurong’s side and supported the drunken woman as they went in.

Once the door was open, only Wu Chen, Wu Yurong, and Chu Yan entered.

Wu Yurong ordinarily lived here alone. Song Xuan only came back to stay now and then.

Chu Yan, as her personal female bodyguard, also lived in the villa. At night she slept in the room beside the master bedroom.

They stepped inside and turned on the lights.

The lavish living room flooded with brightness.

Chu Yan had only just helped Wu Yurong past the entryway when Wu Yurong suddenly tilted her head and whispered something in her ear.

    Chu Yan listened, and froze.

She looked dazed, as though she could not believe what her boss had just said.

“Boss, are you sure?” she asked quietly when Wu Yurong finished.

“Mm. Go,” Wu Yurong confirmed, low.

    Chu Yan still looked stunned.

Because what Wu Yurong had whispered to her was—

    Go buy Postinor-2.

    And also—

    Don’t stay here tonight.

She had confirmed it. She had spoken coherently. She had raised it herself, in advance.

Chu Yan could tell that her boss’s mind and awareness were still clear.

    She…

    She meant it.

Still wearing that baffled expression, Chu Yan went back outside.

After the villa door closed again, Wu Chen stood two steps away and turned toward Wu Yurong.

Wu Yurong was looking at him too.

    Their eyes met.

    She pressed her lips together.

Then she took two quick steps forward and kissed him.

At the same moment both arms went around his neck. Her feet left the floor, and her legs locked around his waist.

    Very direct.

    Very passionate.

    A new day.

    July 15, 2020.

In the first-floor living room of Villa No. 6 at Lüyuan Waterside Villas, everything was in disorder.

Wu Chen’s tie had been thrown over a table lamp.

Wu Yurong’s qipao lay on the carpet…

On the sofa, Wu Chen slept with the boneless woman in his arms, the two of them wrapped in a blanket.

    Seven in the morning…

    Wu Chen did not wake.

He had gone to sleep too late. It had been nearly five in the morning, daylight already breaking outside, before he finally slept. By seven he had had only a little over two hours.

He was in the deepest part of it.

Even his body clock could not surface him.

Before anyone noticed, it was past eight.

Footsteps sounded at the staircase on one side of the living room.

They stopped on reaching the first floor.

A few seconds later a puzzled young woman’s voice rang out across the room.

    “Huh?”

    It was Song Xuan!
