    Chapter 087: Sister, What’s Wrong?

Standing in the kitchen doorway, Su Qingying swept the living room with her eyes and found no one in it.

“Honey?” she called again, walking in and looking left and right. Every other door stood open. Only the master bedroom door was shut, and there were sounds behind it.

She frowned, puzzled, went over, and opened the door. And then she froze in the doorway.

    Inside the bedroom.

Wu Chen lay face down on the mattress in nothing but boxer briefs. Li Ruobing was fully dressed—she had only shed her jacket, tied her long, straight black hair up for the moment, and rolled the sleeves of her white shirt. None of that was the problem.

The problem was that Li Ruobing was sitting on the small of Wu Chen’s back, both hands working his shoulders, over and over.

She was giving Wu Chen a massage.

    Even Su Qingying was shocked.

Of course she had heard what kind of woman Li Ruobing was. Forceful, domineering, decisive. A woman who did not bend and did not submit. Su Qingying had even heard her own father mention that when Li Ruobing’s grandfather tried to force her into marriage, she had cursed the old man out in front of the entire family, and when her uncle came over and slapped her, she slapped him straight back.

Li Ruobing’s strength was real strength. Not a performance. She wasn’t only hard in public; she was the same at home.

A woman like that… would give someone a massage? Would wait on a man like this?

    Su Qingying couldn’t believe it.

She thought about her own case. With the reputation she carried, if it came out after her marriage that she waited on her husband at home and gave him massages, it wouldn’t destroy her persona. If anything it might add the good name of “virtuous wife” and bring her a step closer to perfect.

A wife massaging her husband, or a girlfriend her boyfriend, was ordinary to begin with.

Su Qingying’s own halo, her own reputation, was excellent—but it wasn’t special. She was simply good in every direction, good to the point of standing out.

    Li Ruobing’s reputation was special.

Even married, no one would imagine her waiting on a man. Her husband would have to wait on her, enshrine her like a queen. She was the queen of her own household.

    So—

Watching Li Ruobing massage Wu Chen in that room, Su Qingying was frightened.

And then she saw something more shocking still.

Li Ruobing raised her head, saw Su Qingying in the doorway, gave her one indifferent glance, lowered her head again, and went on massaging Wu Chen. She even asked him quietly, “Does that feel good?”

    She actually kept going.

She had seen someone come in, and she kept going. Undistracted. Wholly absorbed. Massaging Wu Chen.

Su Qingying’s mind blew apart in an instant, exactly as Li Ruobing’s had earlier.

    Ruined.

The image of Li Ruobing she had carried was ruined on the spot. Collapsed.

She even felt she must be hallucinating.

Fake. This had to be fake.

“All done in there? You must be tired. Sit and rest. We’ll be finished soon.” Wu Chen lifted his head from the mattress and smiled at her.

Su Qingying stared blankly at him. Then something moved in her chest.

    Wait.

    Could it be?

    Was it possibly…

Understanding arrived all at once. She had landed on one possibility, the most extreme possibility, and the one she believed came closest to the truth. Li Ruobing was the same kind of person she was. Li Ruobing was an M too. An M who belonged to Wu Chen.

It was the most bizarre possibility available.

But bizarre things like this had already happened once. She herself was the case in point.

If Li Ruobing was also an M, then everything made sense.

She was powerful, forceful, domineering—and she was also like Su Qingying, one thing outside and another within. She lived falsely, lived as someone other than herself. Family pressure had forced her to armor herself into someone strong enough.

And likewise because of the pressure of family, in that repression and airlessness, the stronger she appeared on…
