Chapter 094: You Were Teaching Our Miss to Play Golf

Li Ruobing’s expression truly should have changed.

Because she was Wu Chen’s nominal girlfriend. She had also just been arguing from the position that the two of them together were helping Su Qingying. So on hearing Madam Su say that Wu Chen had struck Su Qingying’s bottom on the golf course, her expression should have changed. She should have turned on Wu Chen and demanded an answer on the spot.

That was the normal reaction of a girlfriend.

But that wasn’t why her expression changed. Her relationship with Wu Chen was fake, and she knew exactly what sort of relationship he and Su Qingying had now.

Her expression changed because Su Qingying had said nothing about this part.

On the drive to Jinfu Teahouse, Li Ruobing had asked her a great many questions in the car. That was how she had been able to deliver everything she’d just said. But Su Qingying had never mentioned Wu Chen putting his hands on her, let alone striking her backside.

Which made it very hard for Li Ruobing to round this out.

She might even have to lose her temper at Wu Chen.

Wu Chen hadn’t warned her in advance either.

Because this particular problem was one he would solve himself.

“What’s going on?” Li Ruobing thought it through, leaned toward him slightly, and asked in a low voice through her teeth, looking exactly like a girlfriend whose blood was up.

This was precisely what Madam Su wanted to see. Li Ruobing had backed her into aggrieved silence a moment ago, and on the merits she couldn’t beat her. If the matter blew up and others learned of it, if outsiders started passing judgment and pointing fingers at Su family business, she couldn’t accept that either.

So she had leapt clean over every questionable point and interrogated Wu Chen directly. There was also an intent to sow discord between him and Li Ruobing.

“Madam Su.” Wu Chen pressed the back of Li Ruobing’s hand, looked at Madam Su, and asked with an easy, faint smile, “You say I put my hands on Miss Su and struck her bottom. I don’t know who told you that. Would you tell me?”

“You mean to deny it?” Her gaze sharpened in an instant.

“Did I say I was denying it?” Wu Chen said, still smiling. “I only feel that some things, even seen with a person’s own eyes, may not be true. So—would you tell me who told you?”

“Qingying’s bodyguard. He saw it himself. He would never lie to me.” Madam Su was certain Wu Chen was trying to deny it.

By this point she felt she had the situation sorted out.

Her daughter Su Qingying had struck up some private acquaintance with Li Ruobing, they were often in contact behind her back, and then her daughter had gone on expressing envy of Li Ruobing, even saying without a shred of conscience that her own mother controlled her.

Li Ruobing had wanted to help her daughter, had arranged today’s meeting, had meant to persuade her, counsel her, and meddle in the Su family’s household affairs.

Something came up for Li Ruobing at the last minute, so she sent Wu Chen to pick her up. And then this young man named Wu Chen, trading on the fact that he was Li Ruobing’s boyfriend, had used her daughter’s private friendship with Li Ruobing to win her trust. He must have filled her head with nonsense, and he had taken the chance to put his hands on her. Deceiving and bullying her kind-hearted daughter.

    A shameless piece of scum.

    That had to be it.

And now he didn’t even dare admit it.

“Ah, Miss Su’s bodyguard.” Wu Chen sounded as though he’d only just learned it, then went on, “Is he here? Outside? I wonder whether we might ask him in to say it again, face to face.”

He still dared confront the man?

Madam Su’s brows lifted. “He is. I’ll call him in.”

She picked up her phone, scrolled, and dialed a number.

“Come in.” That was all she said before hanging up.

He was right outside the door and came in quickly. The two bodyguards who had been with Su Qingying that morning had stayed with Madam Su since. When she went to…
