Chapter 208: You Can’t Find Him?
by cnwebnovelsChapter 208: You Can’t Find Him?
“It’s only nine. Isn’t it a little early for bed?” Wu Chen smiled at Li Ruobing, whose face was only inches from his own.
There was the faintest trace of something peculiar in his voice.
“Early?” Li Ruobing leaned closer to his cheek.
Wu Chen could clearly feel her breath.
“Not really. If we go to bed now, we can wake up early tomorrow…”
Her words very obviously held another meaning.
Wu Chen, however, did not appear excited in the least.
He was perfectly calm.
“Is teasing me really that entertaining?” Wu Chen glanced at her with a smile.
“What do you mean, teasing you? I only said it was time for bed. What’s wrong with that?” Li Ruobing smiled as well.
There was even something sweet in that smile.
It was unlike her.
Even if Li Ruobing fell deeply in love, she would never become some delicate little woman.
She was a “queen.”
She would never become a “princess.”
But today, she was unusually forward.
Everything she said carried some hint for Wu Chen.
Her eyes held the same…
Interesting look.
She truly was making a serious effort to seduce him.
But her objective was not necessarily to have something happen between them tonight.
She was playing with his mind.
Stoking his anticipation.
Making him want her without being able to have her, leaving him restless and frustrated.
Only then could she make Wu Chen become “obedient” in front of her.
One thing was beyond doubt.
When a woman like Li Ruobing deliberately began turning on her charm, virtually any normal man would find it difficult to control himself.
Wu Chen was a completely normal man, both psychologically and physically.
It was just that…
Wu Chen knew too much.
“All right. You’re not wrong.” Wu Chen smiled.
He picked up the remote and turned off the television.
The living room fell completely dark.
Then Wu Chen slipped one arm beneath Li Ruobing, lifted her into a bridal carry, and stood.
He walked toward the stairs.
Upstairs.
Back to the bedroom.
The door closed.
—
A new day.
July 16, 2020.
Exactly seven in the morning.
Wu Chen opened his eyes on time.
He stared at the ceiling, listening to the faint sounds coming from the bathroom, and smiled.
No reset.
Once again, a new day had arrived exactly when it should.
Wonderful.
He got up.
Wu Chen went into the bathroom as well.
Still in her pajamas, Li Ruobing stood at the sink brushing her teeth.
She was using one of Wu Chen’s spare toothbrushes. Naturally, they shared the same tube of toothpaste.
When Wu Chen entered, she continued brushing and glanced sideways at him.
“Morning,” she mumbled around the toothbrush.
“Brushing again?” Wu Chen asked with a smile.
He picked up his own toothbrush and squeezed toothpaste onto it.
“Didn’t you already brush once in the middle of the night? Again? Aren’t you afraid you’ll damage your gums?”
At that, Li Ruobing shot him a sharp sideways look.
She turned on the faucet, wet her fingers, then flicked water directly into Wu Chen’s face.
Wu Chen smiled and looked at her in a way she understood perfectly.
Li Ruobing grew annoyed all over again.
She was even beginning to regret what she had done.
In truth, nothing of that sort had happened between Li Ruobing and Wu Chen the previous night.
Just as Wu Chen had said, Li Ruobing had come to tease him.
And a “bloody calamity” had indeed befallen her.
That “bloody calamity” referred to…
Those few uncomfortable days women experienced every month.
Li Ruobing was a young woman. Naturally, she experienced them as well.
Her period had begun.
Her cycle had always been extremely regular.
It started around the middle of every month, usually on the fourteenth or fifteenth, and ended around the eighteenth or nineteenth.
Wu Chen knew this very well.
So the previous night, it had obviously been impossible.
Wu Chen was not the kind of man who would do something harmful to a woman’s body, and Li Ruobing herself would never have agreed.
Thus, nothing of that sort had truly happened between them the night before.
Even though it was their first time sharing a bed, they had merely fallen asleep in each other’s arms like an old married couple.
Only…
Wu Chen began brushing his teeth as well.
As he brushed, he kept glancing sideways at Li Ruobing.
Deliberately looking at her.
Deliberately hinting.
Since Li Ruobing had teased him, he intended to tease her in return.
Gurgle, gurgle.
Li Ruobing finished brushing, rinsed her mouth, and spat out the water.
Without looking at Wu Chen, she washed her face.
Only after drying it and preparing to leave the bathroom did she glance at him.
“Shameless. Hmph.”
She muttered the words softly, then turned and walked out.
Still brushing his teeth, Wu Chen grinned again.
Deliberately, so Li Ruobing would see.
When he left the bathroom, Li Ruobing was applying her makeup.
Wu Chen did not disturb her.
He changed clothes and went downstairs.
At around 7:30 a.m., a bodyguard brought over the business attire Li Ruobing normally wore.
Wu Chen received the clothes at the door, carried them upstairs to her, then returned to the first floor.
The dress Li Ruobing had worn yesterday had been stained by the fish in the kitchen and had not been washed.
It needed to be sent to a dry cleaner.
It could not be washed at home.
By the time Li Ruobing came downstairs fully dressed and ready for work, Wu Chen was sitting on the sofa watching the morning news.
Several breakfast dishes from a delivery order sat on the coffee table.
Wu Chen was eating a steamed bun.
When he saw her come downstairs, he looked over and smiled.
“Beef buns. They’re still hot.”
“I’m not eating. I’ll get something at the office…” Li Ruobing said as she approached in her heels.
When she reached the coffee table, she asked, “Busy today? Do you want to come to the company?”
“I have something to do,” Wu Chen replied with a smile.
“Going to see Wu Yurong?” Li Ruobing asked.
“No.”
One word.
Clearly, he did not intend to elaborate.
Li Ruobing could not be bothered to press him.
If Wu Chen did not want to say something, she genuinely could not drag it out of him.
Nor was she the kind of woman who, after falling in love, needed to monitor her man’s whereabouts every moment of every day.
She did not even interfere when Wu Chen went to see other women, let alone when he had other business.
Given the current situation, Li Ruobing only hoped that nothing would happen to him.
But judging from everything Wu Chen had demonstrated so far, even though he stood at the center of the storm, the likelihood of any accident actually befalling him seemed extremely low.
“Then keep eating. I’m going to the office…”
Li Ruobing bent down and kissed Wu Chen on the cheek.
Then she lightly hooked a finger beneath his chin, smiled, and winked her left eye at him before finally turning toward the door.
There was still a little of a woman in love about her, after all.
Wu Chen watched Li Ruobing leave.
The smile on his face changed subtly.
He felt the time had come to make Li Ruobing completely his.
Psychologically.
Physically.
Completely.
Of course…
He would have to wait until her period ended.
…
Around 11:30 a.m.
President’s Office, Huancai Fashion.
After signing several documents, Li Ruobing handed them back to the assistant beside her.
The assistant left the office carrying the folder.
Li Ruobing rubbed the back of her neck and rolled her head slightly.
She was a little tired.
Ring, ring…
Her phone suddenly rang.
She picked it up and looked at the screen.
Su Qingying.
The two of them had spoken on the phone fairly often over the past few days.
Yesterday, before going to see Wu Chen after work, Li Ruobing had even called Su Qingying first to make sure they would not “run into” each other.
“Hello, Miss Su…” Li Ruobing answered.
“Miss Li, do you know where Wu Chen went?” Su Qingying asked directly.
“Hm?” Li Ruobing paused, then immediately asked, “What do you mean, where he went? You can’t find him?”
“No… He said he isn’t in Donghai. I asked where he was, but… he wouldn’t tell me…” Su Qingying said.
“Hm?” Li Ruobing paused again.
She thought for a moment before saying, “…I’ll ask him. Talk later.”
She ended the call with Su Qingying and immediately called Wu Chen.
Ring… ring… ring… ring…
After seven or eight seconds, he finally answered.
“What is it?” Wu Chen asked, relaxed amusement in his voice.
“Where are you?” Li Ruobing asked directly.
“Taking care of something.” Wu Chen laughed.
“Where? What are you doing?” Li Ruobing pressed at once.
“I’m—”
Before Wu Chen could finish, Li Ruobing heard a woman’s voice in the background, with the distinctly seductive air of a vixen.
“Why is someone calling again…”
