    Chapter 87: Distribution

The erupted golden radiance fell away. Karaman, the Witch King who had lived for more than a thousand years, collapsed in pieces at the entrance of the Church of Evernight. Every fragment was shriveled and charred, without the slightest trace of blood remaining.

From within his black robe, now burned to ash, something dropped out.

It was a normal-sized palm. Its skin had a nonhuman texture and a rather dim luster. Its five fingers were slender, while bone and flesh were evenly proportioned.

If he had not seen it in a situation like this, Emlyn would definitely have assumed the hand belonged to some exquisite life-sized doll.

One of the other heads carried by Reinette Tinekerr swung forward and swiftly bit down on the hand.

At the same time, Sharron’s figure turned illusory and entered the remnants of Witch King Karaman, accelerating the separation of his Beyonder characteristic.

Emlyn steadied himself. He glanced once at the Gate of Summoning created by Lilith’s Ring as it dissolved, and his body abruptly turned into a hazy beam of moonlight.

That crimson moonlight immediately shattered, splitting into countless fragments of light.

Bright, bewitching red scales swam through the area shrouded by moonlight, reassembling beside Karaman’s remains into Emlyn White, dressed in formalwear and a bow tie.

He did not look at the Beyonder characteristic currently separating. Instead, he dismissed the Unshadowed Crucifix, bent down, and used his left palm, still wearing the black velvet glove, to pick up the glass-orb-like Pure White Sight that he had thrown over earlier.

His other hand shook Leymano’s Travels, making the magic book flip to one of its pages. The symbols and mysterious patterns drawn upon it all belonged to Travel.

Emlyn’s figure then turned transparent and vanished from the scene.

According to the plan, he was to leave first after the operation ended, so as not to interfere with Sharron and the others as they cleaned up the battlefield and erased traces. After all, he was the weakest one present. He had fought entirely by relying on sealed artifacts and mystical items, and had already consumed a great deal of strength.

As for the spoils, they would be divided after they returned to Backlund.

In that regard, Emlyn fully trusted Gehrman Sparrow’s promise and the Rose School of Thought temperance faction’s credibility.

After Teleporting back to an empty house in Backlund, he immediately threw down Leymano’s Travels, took out the bronze box inlaid with multiple rubies, and placed the Pure White Sight inside.

Only after finishing that did Emlyn have the energy to remove the glove from his left hand. He saw that blisters covered his fingers, swollen and distended one after another.

With the Sanguine’s recovery ability, wounds of that degree should have healed long ago, yet in reality, they had not improved at all.

“The burns from Pure White Sight will take at least seven days.” Emlyn took out ointment stored inside a soft metal tube, squeezed some out, and spread it over the wounds.

The pain, which stabbed all the way into his soul, was immediately covered by a cool sensation. Emlyn slowly breathed out, seeming finally to come back to life.

Just now, he had relied on enormous willpower to restrain himself from throwing the Pure White Sight directly onto the ground. Once that sealed artifact left its holder’s control, it would spontaneously absorb the surrounding light and emit radiance that purified all things. For a Sanguine, it was an excellent way to commit suicide.

Next, Emlyn took out a bottle of his own blood, drawn in advance, and smeared it across the surface of Leymano’s Travels. Then he drank another bottle of blood to ease the thirst for blood brought by Lilith’s Ring.

After this series of actions, he finally neutralized the negative effects brought by the sealed artifacts on his body.

Only then did Emlyn have the leisure to recall the accident that had appeared…
