    Chapter 94: Wish

The instant Reinette Tinekerr’s figure appeared inside the Dark Demonic Wolf Kotar’s pupils, She broke free from those windows into the mind and expanded on the spot, returning to Her original size.

This meant Her Wraith possession had failed.

Meanwhile, the Dark Demonic Wolf’s body rapidly shrank and thinned, wildly absorbing the surrounding light before transforming into a semi-transparent curtain of black velvet.

This was the item Klein had once seen during dream divination. It had been spat out by the grayish-white fog and fallen into the Dark Demonic Wolf’s hands, suspected to be a Sequence 1 Attendant of Mysteries Beyonder characteristic of the Seer pathway.

At that very moment, the Dark Demonic Wolf Kotar had used some unknown ability of that “curtain” to dodge Reinette Tinekerr’s Wraith possession at the critical instant, avoiding the following chain of control.

That “curtain” then wrapped around itself and unfurled, allowing the Dark Demonic Wolf, covered in dark short fur, to appear where no one had been.

Reinette Tinekerr showed not the slightest surprise at the failure just now. Seizing the opportunity, She had one of the blond-haired, red-eyed heads in Her hand spit out a rectangular diamond-like charm.

Her other three heads then spoke one word respectively in ancient Hermes, Jotun, and Elvish:

    “Yesterday!”

The rectangular diamond-like charm was instantly swallowed by transparent flames, merging into the void.

Reinette Tinekerr’s body swelled. The four blond-haired, red-eyed heads flew up at the same time and landed upon Her empty neck, overlapping together.

In the blink of an eye, this Miss Messenger became an enormous rag doll, so large that She almost seemed capable of bursting through the Dark Demonic Wolf’s castle.

She wore a black gothic dress covered in countless mysterious symbols and entwined with sinister vines. Her eyes were scarlet like blood, without the slightest hint of humanity.

The Dark Demonic Wolf Kotar did not attempt to stop Reinette Tinekerr from borrowing power from the past, nor did He immediately reveal His complete mythical creature form. His eight feet pressed against the ground, and He lifted His neck, releasing a roar.

That roar seemed to come from a higher level. It contained one word after another similar to Jotun. Those words made the “curtain” abruptly float up, expand instantly, and cover the ancient castle from above.

The “curtain” swiftly turned transparent and fused with the building, as though it had never appeared and had brought no change. Yet Klein’s spiritual intuition told him that this place had already been cut off from the outside world. To leave, they would first have to break the invisible barrier.

In other words, that “curtain” had transformed the Dark Demonic Wolf’s castle into an independent “kingdom.”

This was the prototype of a divine kingdom!

Having just failed once and originally intending to continue summoning angels as support, Klein’s spirituality stirred. He instantly changed his mind, reached into the void, and dragged out another version of himself.

This was Gehrman Sparrow, holding the historical projection of the Staff of the Stars.

Immediately afterward, Klein controlled his image from the gaps of history, turned it into his marionette, and transferred some Worms of Spirit into it.

While he busied himself with these things, Reinette Tinekerr had already recovered Her peak state. Within Her crimson eyes was reflected the eight-legged demonic wolf covered in dark short fur.

A faint light flashed, and the Dark Demonic Wolf abruptly became a white goat.

However, outside the dark hall, a giant holding a broom suddenly wriggled and transformed into a demonic wolf with a tuft of gray-white fur on its forehead.

The moment He was cursed, Kotar the Miracle Invoker had exchanged places with one of His marionettes!

He opened His mouth again and released a roar.

This roar likewise contained many words that seemed to originate from Jotun, and they told of one beautiful wish:

“I wish all divinity here would dissipate!”

In the next second, as the God of Wishes, the Dark Demonic Wolf fulfilled His own wish. Klein immediately felt his own divinity suppressed. The Beyonder powers originating from Ancient Scholar and Bizarro Sorcerer that involved divinity could no longer be used!

Fortunately, maintaining an image from the gaps of history relied on spirituality. Once the summoning had succeeded, it would not be dispersed by the Dark Demonic Wolf’s wish. Similarly, because Klein had already turned his own historical projection into a marionette and transferred part of his Worms of Spirit into it, he could still switch positions with that image.

Apart from him, Reinette Tinekerr and the Dark Demonic Wolf Kotar Himself had also been affected by the wish. Beyonder powers above Sequence 5 “vanished” out of thin air and became difficult to use.

Of course, whether it was the demonic wolf marionette that had been turned into a goat, or Reinette Tinekerr in Her state as an enormous rag doll, neither underwent any change in condition. That which already existed was reasonable and would not be erased by the power of wishes.

After making such a wish, the Dark Demonic Wolf arched His back and lowered His body slightly, taking on a posture that suggested He intended to engage Klein and Reinette Tinekerr in close combat.

At this moment, His body was like a small mountain, no smaller than the castle-like rag doll. He looked down coldly at Klein, as though He could crush him with one claw.

In addition, the numerous marionettes inside the castle surged toward them. Some were giants, some were elves, some were vampires, some were humans, and some were mutated monsters.

Originally, only a portion of them were at Sequence 5. But now, all of them had Kotar’s Worms of Spirit inside them. In other words, under this special environment, all of them could reach Sequence 5.

Once divinity “dissipated,” inside this independent “kingdom,” the Dark Demonic Wolf Kotar’s advantage became exceptionally clear:

Dozens, even hundreds, of “Sequence 5s” would besiege two “Sequence 5s”!

Furthermore, the Dark Demonic Wolf was an inhuman creature to begin with. Even if He could not currently display anything related to divinity, He still possessed an enormous body, terrifying strength, and exceptional combat ability. He was not on the same level as Klein, a weak human Marionettist.

At that moment, Reinette Tinekerr’s body in the black gothic dress entwined with sinister vines suddenly turned illusory. She first reflected Herself in a floor-to-ceiling window, then leaped into the Dark Demonic Wolf’s black pupils.

She once again attempted Wraith possession.

However, the Dark Demonic Wolf Kotar promptly exchanged places with another marionette, causing Reinette Tinekerr to fail to possess His true body.

Reinette Tinekerr was not discouraged in the slightest. She continued using glass windows, crystal lamps, vitreous bodies within eyes, and other mediums to “jump” from one marionette to another, pursuing the true Dark Demonic Wolf.

The Dark Demonic Wolf, relying on the advantage that He had a huge number of marionettes and that all of them contained His Worms of Spirit, switched between different marionettes without the slightest interval, avoiding forcible possession by this ancient evil thing.

As the two angels entangled without producing the slightest sound, a large portion of the Dark Demonic Wolf’s marionettes split off and surrounded the two Kleins.

Abyss Shackles from vampires, Storm of Light from giants, Binding Winds and Lightning Arrows from elves, Psychic Piercing and Summon Holy Light from humans, and all kinds of other Beyonder powers descended upon their targets one after another. Some controlled, some weakened, some attacked, and some purified. Their cooperation was so flawless that Klein only had time to dodge a portion of them before being completely “drowned” by the barrage.

Amid bursting plasma and exploding light, Klein’s figure holding the Staff of the Stars quickly outlined itself on the other side.

At the critical moment just now, he had switched positions with his marionette in time, imagined the Travel ability, and used the Staff of the Stars to complete the transfer.

Under the current special circumstances, this was essentially the release of a Recorded power.

After narrowly avoiding that round of attacks, Klein had no time to breathe before discovering that marionettes were manipulating his Spirit Body Threads.

At the same time, under the Dark Demonic Wolf’s influence, a human marionette stretched out its right hand and aimed at the true body of this Miracle Invoker.

In the next second, the Dark Demonic Wolf exchanged places with another marionette, and that marionette was immediately forcibly possessed by Reinette Tinekerr.

In this way, the target the human marionette’s right hand had been aiming at became Reinette Tinekerr.

The marionette’s palm clenched abruptly, its wrist twisting by a small fraction of a circle, “stealing” the target’s next thought.

Immediately afterward, it leaped up and pounced onto one of its companions.

Reinette Tinekerr briefly froze in place.

Seeing this, the Dark Demonic Wolf immediately had several marionettes spread their arms, summoning one pure beam of light after another, each coiling with faint flames.

Within that sacred radiance, Reinette Tinekerr’s Wraith body first began melting to a certain extent. Then, relying on Mirror Jump, She forcibly shifted to a glass window high up in the castle, avoiding the ensuing purification.

In only a few seconds, both She and Klein had inevitably fallen into danger.

The restricted environment, the place He had managed for so long, and the traits of the God of Wishes had magnified the Dark Demonic Wolf Kotar’s advantage to its extreme.

If it were any other Ancient Scholar, the only question to consider now would be how to rely on Reinette Tinekerr to escape. But Klein had his own trump card.

Having just pulled back strand after strand of Spirit Body Thread, he did not hesitate to activate Sefirah Castle.

This special aspect of his had not been suppressed by the Dark Demonic Wolf’s wish.

This was a status even the seal on the Forsaken Land of the Gods could not cut off!

In midair, grayish-white fog surfaced. The ancient palace above the spirit world seemed to appear and vanish indistinctly.

This brought a slight tremor. Some power, following the connection, shook the demonic wolf’s castle, causing that black-velvet-like semi-transparent “curtain” to bounce out slightly, letting this independent “kingdom” intermingle with reality to a certain degree once more.

Seizing this chance, Klein opened his mouth and shouted a name in Jotun:

    “Leodero!”

    Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

Hundreds upon thousands of thick silver-white lightning bolts fell from nowhere, striking the Dark Demonic Wolf Kotar’s castle all at once. This place transformed into a forest of thunder, releasing an intense aura of destruction.
