Chapter 183: A “Lesson” in Spirit Channeling
by cnwebnovelsChapter One Hundred Eighty-ThreeA “Lesson” in Spirit Channeling
After dinner and some conversation, Klein sat on the single-person sofa in the living room, picked up the recently delivered Awwa Evening News, and leisurely unfolded it to read.
Benson sat opposite his sister with a pained expression. In front of him was the dining table Bella had wiped extremely clean, along with grammar books, classical literature, accounting tutorials, fountain pen, and paper. Melissa’s arrangement was much the same. Before her lay textbooks and stationery, including but not limited to pen, paper, ruler, compass, and other items.
“This makes me feel as though I have returned to more than ten years ago, when I was still a student at the Church’s Sunday school.”
Benson complained once, but he still lowered his head and studied seriously.
Not bad. This scene gives me quite the sense of accomplishment as a parent…
Klein smiled and said, “Knowledge changes destiny. Hard work creates brilliance.”
The second half was something I just made up. I have no idea whether Roselle ever said it…
He silently mocked himself.
The room soon became quiet. Only the sound of pen tips scraping across paper and books being turned remained. Bella had long since washed the tableware, tidied the kitchen, and returned to her first-floor bedroom—the small guest room from before.
Klein read the newspaper, occasionally sipped Sibe black tea, and chatted with his elder brother and younger sister from time to time. It was a very pleasant evening.
Suddenly, the gas lamps in the living room and dining room dimmed at the same time, as though they had lost an adequate supply of fuel.
Benson and Melissa lifted their heads almost simultaneously, looking at the lamps and trying to find the reason.
Klein also cast his gaze over.
At that moment, he felt something lightly touch his arm.
Aside from him, something in the living room with no other living person had touched his arm!
The hairs on his body instantly rose. Klein jerked his arm back, turned his head, and saw five thin, pale fingers. They grew from the tip of a red tongue, beneath which were irregular sharp teeth one after another!
At first, Klein reached toward his pocket. There lay his Slumber and Requiem Charms. But immediately afterward, he saw that those five infant-like fingers were holding a neatly folded sheet of paper.
A letter…
A messenger!
Klein abruptly relaxed.
At that moment, the five pale fingers holding the paper lightly touched his arm again.
Klein glanced toward Melissa, who was about to stand and check the gas lamp. With a nimble motion of his left hand, he grabbed the letter, then swiftly withdrew it and hid it beneath the newspaper.
Immediately afterward, from the corner of his eye, he saw the pale fingers, red tongue, and irregular teeth dim and vanish.
His heart moved. Klein lightly tapped the teeth on the left side of his mouth and quietly activated spirit vision.
Once again, he saw those five abnormally thin fingers. He saw the long red tongue lined with white sharp teeth. He saw them withdraw into a transparent face without eyes or nose on the floor.
One second later, the face drilled underground, and the light of the living room and dining room gas lamps returned to normal.
“Strange…” Melissa muttered. She examined them seriously for a long time, but found no problem.
Why is it the girl in this family who handles things like this, while the men just stand there watching…
Klein shook his head with a smile and deactivated spirit vision.
When spirit-type creatures were willing to be seen and possessed the corresponding ability, ordinary people could also discover them. What had happened earlier was an example.
After briefly discussing the gas lamp issue, the Moretti household became quiet again. Benson and Melissa once more threw themselves into the sea of knowledge.
Klein, under cover of the newspaper, unfolded the letter with one hand, slipped it into the inner pages…
